To make sure you know it: It's a painting and not a photo! ------------------
THANKS: First of all: Thanks for all the new comments, favs and watches! crayonmaniac [link] is truly an angel! Thanks for the support!
PORTRAIT: So, here we are: This time it's not Alessandra Ambrosio or Doutzen Kroes. It's one of my favourite guitar players - Greg Howe. Because of his versatility I cannot say exactly which genre it is. It's instrumental rock, fusion and funk I think. It's a pity that he's not so well-known like Joe Satriani or Steve Vai.
PAINTING Painting was done in 15 hours. As you can imagine the shirt and guitar (especially the Floyd Rose [thats the vibrato system at the end of the guitar] took a lot of time) but I'm very satisfied with the result. All done in Photoshop. Used a reference image of Greg.
I hope you like it!
PS. this time you can download a huge version of the painting!
GREG HOWE MUSIC: If you want to listen to him, click here: - "The Terrace" [link] (Instrumental Rock Ballade in Jeff Beck style) - "Sunny" [link] (you never heard such a jazzy / funky version of "Sunny"! )
And Greg! If you read this: Please !PLEASE! come to Hannover, Germany!
This is an awesome work. It's hard to believe it's a painting. It looks so real. The amount of detail is incredible. Stunning.
I like Greg Howe, although my favourite guitarist is Allan Holdsworth. He's something else! Jeff Beck is another master guitarist. I love his tone. His "Live at Ronnie Scott's" DVD is wonderful.
You're an extremely talented artist. I'm sure you have a great future ahead of you. All the best.
Thanks a lot, Yan! Well, I used a reference for the painting. Otherwise it wouldn't be possible (for me) to catch all the details! But it's completely painted!
You're the second guy who told me from Allan Holdsworth. I will listen to him NOW!
You're very welcome. It's fantastic artwork. You've captured an incredible amount of detail. It's inspiring to see artwork of such high quality.
Yes, Holdsworth is brilliant. I've seen him live a few times, and nothing compares to the experience. You can check him out on YouTube. Here's a clip - [link] The DVD that clip comes from is superb, and features - Alan Pasqua (keys), Chad Wackerman (drums), and Jimmy Haslip (bass).
